Oil Spill

These three photos were taken in the basement of the shop at Shady Grove:

While not exactly the Exxon Valdez, according to the rail car maint. (CMNT) mechanics in the shop this would happen every time we lost power, which was during just about every major electrical storm.  As I recall, they said there is a valve that needs power in order to remain closed.  Management had been notified several times but nothing was ever done.  Every time there was a power failure the mechanics would have to go downstairs and sop up the spilled oil as best as they could.

If only there were some sort of government agency charged with protecting the environment that could force Metro to comply with certain regulations…
